Community design against wildfire

requires an interdisciplinary and multiple scaled set of approaches. You can’t just do this at home, and you can’t do it all through policy. I think we can all agree that merely suppressing fires isn’t doing it, either. I’ll endeavor to share things here that are pertinent to re-imagining the work we are doing so that we can tackle this beast from all sides.

There are 6 main categories of things that need to work together to protect communities from wildfire. The article above says it all better than I could, enjoy.

18 hazards, by county, toggle and see what the risk index says about: avalanche, coastal flooding, cold wave, drought, earthquake, hail, heat wave, hurricane, ice storm, landslide, lightning, riverine flooding, strong wind, tornado, tsunami, volcanic activity, WILDFIRE, winter weather. Obviously, some of these can be causes of others and they’re not isolated nor surprising, but still kinda cool.
