to my fellow designers and Landscape Architects!

A labor of love….

I stepped back from private practice to do this work so that I could reach you and hopefully impact your work in a positive way.  My hope is that your projects will benefit and your business will benefit from what you find here.  Reaching those in a position to directly impact the land is of primary importance, that’s a big part of why I’m not aiming at laypeople – they usually impact one or two properties, but you can impact multiple properties in every sector of the market.  You have a wonderful opportunity to reach a lot more than I can, and I’m so grateful for the amazing dedicated people in this profession.  I’m just one person at a desk with borrowed AutoCAD.   I’ve all but abandoned my professional design work to support you instead.

One thing that is on my mind though is your clients – they’re powerful too, but not just on their properties, they are the ones who may notice if you demonstrate genuine concern for their safety with regards to fire not to mention all the yucky unhealthy things you will be avoiding in the landscape like synthetic fertilizers and so much more.  Those clients who benefit from your thoughtful consideration may tell their friends how informed you are, how you paid attention to their site-specific risks, etc.

Given that I didn’t become a Landscape Architect for the money (HAHAHAHAH) and I didn’t start teaching for the money (sigh), and I for sure did not work for a non-profit for a while for the money… and you can see I’m not HERE for the money!  I’m doing all this in order to make a difference – be a drop in the bucket that I hope will squelch the wildfire of climate change (pithy enough?).

Please reach out if you come across a problem in want of a solution.  I have a lot of writing and research planned for this project, but I may have missed something.  That would be a blessing to me.  Likewise, if you have solved something, I want to hear what you came up with.  I have a whole list of problems in need of solutions, let’s chat.

Thanks for hearing me out.
